What is the goal of the study?
The objective of this study is to characterize and determine transcriptomic signatures of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) within the target organ of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract and peripheral blood using novel single-cell omic techniques. "Omics" is a word that scientists use to talk about studying different parts of living things. Each part represents something important in our bodies. Transcriptomics is a science that looks at all the messages cells send out using a molecule called RNA. By studying these messages, scientists can learn how cells work and what might be going wrong in diseases. For this study, doctors want to study the cell messaging of IBD in the digestive system and in the blood circulating throughout the body. They are using new technology to study multiple types of molecules within single cells, like genes, proteins, and metabolites, all at once.
Who can participate in the study?
Suspected diagnosis of CD (Crohn's Disease), UC (Ulcerative Colitis) or Indeterminate colitis (IC)
