Visiting Seattle Children’s Research Institute's B. Wayne Hughes Building, also known as Building Cure

Members of the public are invited to visit Building Cure to view the 90-foot long mural, Intent and Assembly, conveying the history and hope of research at Seattle Children’s, and the display cases celebrating the individuals who are part of making research discoveries possible. Building Cure public spaces are open Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The public space is closed on weekends and Seattle Children’s observed holidays, and for certain special events. We encourage you to call ahead to confirm the public spaces are open prior to visiting. All guests must register at the reception desk.

Driving Directions

From points north (and east via 520)

  1. Take I-5 South to exit 166 (Stewart Street toward Denny Way).
  2. Turn slight right onto Stewart Street.
  3. Building Cure is on the southwest corner of Terry Avenue and Stewart Street.

From points south (and east via I-90)

  1. Take I-5 North to exit 166 (Olive Way).
  2. Turn slight right onto Olive Way.
  3. Turn left onto E. Denny Way.
  4. Turn left onto Stewart Street.
  5. Building Cure is on the southwest corner of Terry Avenue and Stewart Street.

From Seattle Children’s Hospital

  1. Start by going southwest on Sand Point Way NE toward University Village.
  2. Sand Point Way NE becomes NE 45th Street. Pass University Village on the right; stay in one of the left 2 lanes.
  3. Continue south onto Montlake Boulevard NE.
  4. Merge right onto 520 West toward I-5.
  5. Take the Stewart Street exit on the right (166) toward Denny Way.
  6. Turn slight right onto Stewart Street.
  7. Building Cure is on the southwest corner of Terry Avenue and Stewart Street.

Parking

The Building Cure parking garage (6’6” clearance; ADA vans have 8”2” clearance) is located on Stewart Street between Boren Avenue and Terry Avenue. When coming southwest on Stewart Street (which is a one-way street), turn right into the first alley entrance past Boren Avenue. Then, turn left into the parking garage entrance. Pick up a parking ticket, park and go to the first-floor reception desk.

Garage hours are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., excluding Seattle Children’s holidays. The garage is closed weekends.

Validated parking

Validated parking is available for certain visitors, including collaborators from outside Seattle Children’s, per the research institute’s parking validation policy. Vendors do not receive validated parking. A validation number will be provided by your host. Bring your ticket along with the validation number to the first-floor reception desk to confirm validation; security cannot provide the validation number.
