CCTR Funding and Educational Programs
The Center for Clinical and Translational Research (CCTR) sponsors programs designed to promote the development of clinical and translational research projects and to assist in career development for clinical researchers at all levels. CCTR Programs
Clinical Research Scholars Program
The Clinical Research Scholars Program (CRSP) is an intensive mentored research career development program designed to support junior faculty of the CCTR. This is accomplished through a structured program of mentoring by dedicated CRSP faculty, educational seminars, and financial support.
Faculty Research Support Fund
The Faculty Research Support Fund offers in-kind support to CCTR investigators with limited or no funding who wish to initiate a research project, or to those who have funding but may need additional resources for project completion. Amount awarded is a maximum of $5,000.
Pediatric Pilot Funds
The Pediatric Pilot Funds is a competitive program that supports investigators initiating "proof of concept" testing, obtaining preliminary findings or conducting other activities necessary to prepare for competitive, full-scale grant applications. Amount awarded is a maximum of $20,000.

Other Seattle Children’s Intramural Funding Programs
Academic Enrichment Fund
The Academic Enrichment Fund supports faculty who devote the majority of their effort to clinical service and medical education. The amount awarded is a maximum of $25,000 per individual applicant, and up to $40,000 for projects that involve multiple investigators from different divisions or departments.
Excellence in Research New Investigator Award
Seattle Children’s Research Institute’s Excellence in Research New Investigator Award program provides the time, funding, mentorship, experiences and training necessary to foster the early career development of the next generation of Seattle Children’s researchers. Health Equity Research Grants Program
The Center for Diversity and Health Equity (CDHE) makes three grant awards each fiscal year to new and early researchers at Seattle Children's: the Mentored Scholars Grant, the Seed Research Grant, and the Fellows and Residents’ Health Equity Grant for a total of $140,000 each year. While each grant has a slightly different focus, the overall goal of the CDHE grant program is to fund projects with an emphasis on advancing health equity work. Nursing Research Grant Program
The Nursing Research Grant Program is intended to support and encourage the research career development of nurses as clinical investigators at Seattle Children's. The program supports nurses of all levels of research experience. Amount awarded is a maximum of $10,000.
Research Integration Hub Awards
The Research Integration Hub hosts three support funds intended to facilitative access to core services (Research Integration Hub Core Services Support Fund), generate pilot data in clinical/translational research (Hub Pilot Awards), and support innovative translational research and team-science initiatives (Discovery Awards). Seattle Children’s Research Institute Career Development Program
The Seattle Children’s Research Institute Career Development Program provides the time, funding, mentorship and training necessary to foster the early career development of the next generation of Seattle Children’s researchers. Seattle Children’s Research Institute Clinical and Research Synergy Pilot Program
This funding opportunity underscores the essential role of multidisciplinary team science not only in addressing immediate health challenges but also in laying the groundwork for groundbreaking advancements in pediatric healthcare. By catalyzing synergies between clinical expertise and research innovation, the program aspires to set a precedent for integrated and impactful collaboration, leading to a transformation in how health challenges are approached and conquered at Seattle Children’s. For FY24, the application due date if May 15, 2024.
Seattle Children’s Research Mentorship Award Program
Current mentees can nominate an outstanding mentor who is engaged research at Seattle Children's. Two $20,000 awards will be given; one for outstanding mentorship in basic science/bench research and one for outstanding mentorship in clinical/translational/outcomes research. Nominated mentors will be required to provide evidence of exemplary mentorship for up to three mentees and describe their commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in mentoring. The completed mentorship form must be submitted prior to June 1, 2024 to be considered. Nomination materials will be reviewed in June-July by the award committee, and the winners announced at the Research Symposium in September.
*Funds are intended to support the mentor’s research program and will provided as a seed fund, which may be used for all approved seed fund purposes except for salary.

Seattle Children’s Research Institute’s Team Science Ignition Award
The goal of the Team Science Ignition Award is to promote new innovative team science collaborations and enhance competitiveness for extramural multi-PI awards. This program is open to all SCRI faculty and staff members. Applicants may plan for up to two years of support and request up to $150,000 in project funds. Seattle Children’s and Department of Pediatric's Quality Improvement Scholars Program
The Quality Improvement (QI) Scholars Program is designed to give junior and mid-level faculty the means they need to successfully complete QI research projects that are publishable and add to generalizable knowledge. The program combines a mentored pediatric QI research experience and formal QI research methodology didactics with salary support, protected time and additional project resources. ITHS offers funds for novel, innovative, and collaborative translational and clinical research for the UW, Seattle Children’s, and Fred Hutch Cancer Center. As part of the network, CCTR Faculty are eligible for some of the awards such as:
