Exploring critical issues that bridge bioethics and pediatrics

Welcome to the Weiss Lab

The Weiss Lab’s major area of exploration is related to recruitment for clinical research. This includes improving recruitment processes and improving the experience of families recruited for research, in particular those from marginalized and minorities populations. This work aims to decrease disparities in research participation, leading to a more representative and less biased research population, and more generalizable findings that may lessen, rather than exacerbate, existing heath disparities. The lab also explores clinical decision-making, including models of shared decision-making, decision-making in times of uncertainty, ways to improve communication with families, and considerations of the chronically critically ill.
