FAQs About Central District Reopening

OBCC’s Central District location on E. Yesler Way closed in 2022 for building repairs. A new OBCC location in the Central District was announced in September, 2023 and is estimated to open in 2025. This is in addition to OBCC Othello, which provides a full range of medical, dental, behavioral health and other services.

Q: Where is the new location and what services will it provide?

A: The site of the new Central District location is located on the corner of 18th Ave. S. and S. Jackson St. and will offer mental health and behavioral health, violence and injury prevention support and addiction related resources, as well as primary care to patients and families. Dental services will remain at OBCC Othello.

Q: Why did the Central District location on E. Yesler Way close?

A: During an evaluation of a project to repair the weather barrier and assess the structural integrity of OBCC Central District, we discovered the need for more extensive repairs to the building. For that reason, OBCC leadership made the decision to close the E. Yesler Way location. We will open a new location in the Central District on the corner of 18th Ave. S. and S. Jackson St. in 2025.

Q: Where do we go if we want to receive care at OBCC now and how do we get there?

A: OBCC Othello offers dental, medical, behavioral health and community services. The clinic is 5.4 miles south of the OBCC location on E. Yesler Way. OBCC Othello is located across the street from the Othello Link light rail station and is central to many bus lines. OBCC Othello has free onsite parking for clinic visits. Enter the garage on the west side of the building on 39th Avenue S.

Will my child’s primary care provider (PCP) be available for appointments at OBCC Othello while we wait for the Central District location to open?

A: The OBCC team will work with you to ensure your child’s appointment is scheduled with your child’s primary care provider at our OBCC Othello location.

Q: Are all services that were offered at OBCC Central District also offered at OBCC Othello?

A: Yes, OBCC Othello offers many of the same services including dental, medical, behavioral health and community services. Dermatology, which was previously only offered at the Central District, is offered at Othello.

Q: Who do I contact to schedule an appointment if my child used to be seen at OBCC Central District?

A: To make an appointment, call the OBCC scheduling coordinators at 206-987-7210.

Q: Who do I call if I have questions?

A: Questions related to your child’s care should be directed to your child’s primary care provider.

Q: How can families and the community stay up to date on progress?

A: We will provide updates through the OBCC website and OBCC Facebook page.
