Provider-to-Provider Line Changes Coming January 6

November 6, 2024

As shared in previous communications, Seattle Children’s has made the difficult decision to make changes to the Provider-to-Provider Line to address issues with access, risk management, and provider workload as use of the line has evolved over time. As we make changes to the line, our goal is to provide a streamlined experience for community providers seeking support, and our internal teams who provide that support.

On Monday, Jan. 6, community providers within the state of Washington will no longer be able to utilize the line to have non-urgent clinical questions answered and will be redirected to more appropriate resources, such as eConsults. Community providers outside of Washington will still be able to request a non-urgent callback as they are not yet able to utilize eConsults. The line will remain available to any provider who has an urgent clinical question that requires immediate attention due to its potential impact on patient health or safety.

December’s issue of Provider News will share additional details, including how non-urgent clinical questions will be handled by specialties that have not gone live with eConsults and how we will address provider-to-provider consults that are needed for triage and scheduling purposes.
