    Kyle Steinman, MD, MAS, is a pediatric neurologist, specializing in pediatric behavioral and cognitive neurology, with a particular emphasis on disorders of language and language development. In addition to children with neurologic disorders causing language and cognitive challenges, he cares for children with functional neurologic symptom disorder (FNSD) and with general pediatric neurological disorders. He is Professor of Neurology at the University of Washington and Adjunct Professor of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences and of Pediatrics.

    Dr. Steinman earned his BA in Psychology with Honors and Distinction from Stanford University. He attended the University of California, Los Angeles, for medical school. Dr. Steinman completed Pediatrics residency at Childrens Hospital Oakland, followed by residency in Neurology/Child Neurology and clinical fellowship in Behavioral Neurology at the University of California, San Francisco. Dr. Steinman also earned a Masters of Advanced Studies degree in Clinical Research at UC San Francisco. Dr. Steinman was a faculty member at UC San Francisco prior to his recruitment to Seattle Childrens and UW in 2011. Dr. Steinman provides care to patients in the Seattle Childrens interdisciplinary Brain & Language Clinic, general neurology clinic, and Autism Center, and in outreach clinics in Yakima, WA. Dr. Steinmans research focuses on understanding brain differences that underlie language and cognitive functioning in individuals with autism and other neurologic disorders.
