    Jimmy Beck, MD, embarked on his medical journey at the University of Washington School of Medicine. He then completed his residency training in Pediatrics at Loma Linda Children’s Hospital, where he also served as Chief Resident. Following this, he embarked on a three-year fellowship in Pediatric Hospital Medicine at Children’s National Medical Center, concurrently earning a Master’s in Medical Education from the George Washington School of Medicine.

    Since relocating to Seattle in 2014, Dr. Beck has been involved in diverse educational initiatives spanning undergraduate medical education (UME), graduate medical education (GME), and continuing medical education (CME). He has notably served as a pediatric clerkship site director for third-year medical students, was as a member of the University of Washington Pediatric Residency Clinical Competency Committee, and spearheaded the medical education special interest group for the division of hospital medicine. Nationally, he assumed the role of Chair of the AAP Society of Hospital Medicine Education Task Force.

    Presently, Dr. Beck holds the position of fellowship program director for the Pediatric Hospital Medicine Program at the University of Washington. In 2024, he embarked on a new academic pursuit as a PhD candidate in the Health Professions Education Program, jointly offered by the University of California San Francisco and The University of Utrecht. His research endeavors are focused on unraveling the intricate relationship between stress and learning in the clinical environment, advocating for trainee autonomy, and exploring the pedagogical potential of embracing failure as a teaching tool.

    Beyond his scholarly pursuits, Dr. Beck is deeply committed to mentoring both trainees and faculty, offering guidance in psychometrics, survey design, and qualitative methods.
