Tree Work at Hospital Campus and on Adjacent Streets August 19 to 23, 2024

From Monday, August 19, through Friday, August 23, Bartlett Tree Experts will be pruning trees at Seattle Children’s Hospital campus. The will involve reducing co-dominant stems on large trees with structural issues to encourage central leader development. The work is preventative, to reduce the risk of stem/tree failure and increase the lifespan of the trees. For a few trees where issues cannot be corrected by pruning, cables will be installed. There will be some noise from chainsaws and chippers during the work.

The majority of this work will be along the perimeter of the property. On the southwest corner of NE 47th Street and 45th Avenue NE, pines and western red cedars with multiple leaders will be pruned and/or cabled to reduce the risk of failure. On NE 45th Street, a large Himalayan birch across from 43rd Avenue NE and on three trees across from 42nd Avenue NE will be pruned. Three Altas cedars will be pruned near the corner of NE 50th Street and Sand Point Way NE. Finally, one Scots pine on 40th Avenue NE will be pruned. Metro has been notified of the work located near bus stops. None of the work is expected to impact vehicle traffic or bus service.
