Spiritual Care
Caring for People of All Faith Traditions
Chaplains are available 24 hours a day to provide respectful spiritual care and emotional support to patients, families, faculty and staff. We approach spirituality from a multifaith perspective and serve all cultures and faith traditions. Our services include:
- Spiritual care and support during times of illness, injury, crisis and loss
- Rituals such as baptism, communion, blessing and anointing
- Assistance contacting clergy or a faith community
- Consultation to the health care team
- Bereavement support and counseling
- Staff consultation and supportive care around work, stress, grief and life transitions
- Resources such as sacred texts, spiritual music, head coverings, prayer rugs, battery-operated candles, rosaries and more

People have a variety of reasons for needing support. You can seek spiritual care for any reason.

Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Saturday, 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Sunday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

After hours and weekends
For urgent matters, after 7:30 p.m. and before 8 a.m. Monday through Friday, or anytime during weekends, dial “0” from a hospital phone and ask the operator to page the chaplain on call.
Special Opportunities to Worship and Celebrate
We honor offer multifaith services and celebrations, and cultural holidays, celebrations and activities throughout the year through educational displays, patient care activities and programming, which vary. Some of our programs may include Lunar New Year, Ash Wednesday, Easter, Dia de los Muertos, Our Lady of Guadalupe, Christmas, Kwanzaa, Rosh Hashanah, Black History Month, Passover, Pride, Hanukkah, Ramadan, Eid al-Fitr, Holi, Diwali, Kwanzaa, Winter Solstice and more!
The staff and on-call chaplains at Seattle Children’s Hospital provide respectful spiritual care and emotional support to patients, families and staff.
We serve all faith traditions and cultures. We also offer Spanish-language pastoral and spiritual support. There is no fee for our services.
