Social Work
Seattle Children’s Social Work Department is made up of licensed social workers and social services specialists who work together with your child’s medical team to promote health and wellness. We can support you and your family with a variety of needs and are available to all patients and families.
Please speak with your child’s medical provider or call Social Work and leave a voice mail at 206-987-2760 to connect with a team member. We work with interpreters in all languages, including sign language.

- Assessment of your family’s strengths and needs in relation to your child’s medical care
- Partnering with your family to address psychological and social needs around medical diagnoses
- Short-term counseling to help your family adjust to illness, make decisions or cope with grief
- Crisis intervention for patients and families
- Family violence assessment and safety planning
- Help in understanding child development and learning strategies to effectively respond to behavioral challenges
- Education about access to healthcare
- Addressing general concrete needs, including food, transportation education, housing and finances
